This week the DeSales Colts play the Central Yellow Jackets at 7 pm. The game will be played at central, holding a big reward. The winner of the game will have home field advantage for the first two playoff games.
This week is a very evenly matched game with the Yellow Jackets having a very young team. Each team only has about 5 seniors. While the records are not similar, the size of the team and their state ranking is pretty similar. This season, the Yellow Jackets have played some tough competition and are coming off a three game losing streak. During their season they have played 4 top 30 teams and 1 top 50 team. All of those games were losses by at least 20 points. On the other hand the Colts have an easier schedule with playing less teams that are ranked top 30 in the state. When the Colts played a top 50 team, they lost by only 12 points.
One major difference between the Colts and the Yellow Jackets is that the Colts have certain players with a lot of yards. An example of this is with Kingston Merritt having almost 900 yards. The closest person to him is Silas Jones with almost 600 yards. With certain people excelling for the Colts could benefit the Yellow Jackets on defense. On the flip side, with the Yellow Jackets spreading the ball around could cause some problems for the Colts defense.
Overall this game should be close as both teams are very balanced. The deciding factor for the game will be who wants it most.
Key things to watch:
-Wide Receiver Kingston Merritt looks to add to the yard total. He is still top two in the state in receiving yards.
-Quarterback Cameron Bischoff is top ten in the state in passing yards. He has 1,930 passing yards.
-The Colts look to move above .500 with a win on the road.
-With a win the Colts get home field for there first two playoff games.
