On September 5th 2025, the Colts traveled to Dixie Highway to play the Holy Cross Cougars for a long awaited rivalry game. The DeSales Colts defeated the Holy Cross Cougars 28-20. This was the first time in 7 years since the Colts and Cougars have played.
The Colts won the toss and decided to receive. On the kickoff two DeSales players ran into each other dropping the ball. The Cougars gained possession on the DeSales 40 yard line. The Cougars proceeded to march down the field for a touchdown, but missed the extra point. The game was back and forth for the rest of the quarter without any other points being scored. The Cougars lead 6-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The Cougars scored another touchdown in the second quarter making it 12-0 cougars. With two minutes left in the second quarter. On fourth down the quarterback scrambles forever and connects for the touchdown, which made the score 12-7 Cougars. The Cougars made a crucial error by spiking the ball on fourth down within the 20 yard line which led to a turnover on downs going into halftime led to halftime.
On the Cougars first drive of the third quarter, they were forced to punt. The Colts got a hand on the ball and received good field position. The Colts get an explosive 40 yard first down. Then followed up by a touchdown making the score 14-12 Colts.
The Colts lead into the fourth quarter with momentum on their side, and proceed to score a touchdown within 6 minutes. In the same drive the Colts scored a big touchdown with 4:50 left in the game, which sealed the deal. The Cougars scored with 1:59 left, but then the Colts ran the clock out and won the game. The Colts won 28-20 in a heated rival game.
