On a cool fall evening in Louisville, the DeSales Colts hosted the Bishop Brossart Mustangs in a non-league football matchup at Paul B. Cox Stadium on Friday, September 26, 2025. The Colts came away with an impressive 35–7 victory, showing off both offensive power and defensive toughness in front of their home crowd.
From the opening kickoff, DeSales took control of the game. Bishop Brossart, traveling from Alexandria, Kentucky, struggled to move the ball against a physical DeSales defense that was flying to the ball on every play. On the other side, the Colts’ offense wasted no time finding its rhythm. Their rushing attack, led by senior quarterback and running back Cameron Bischoff, set the tone early and never let up. By halftime, DeSales had built a comfortable lead that the Mustangs couldn’t recover from.
Bischoff had a standout performance, rushing for 80 yards and two touchdowns on just six carries while also throwing for 187 yards and two more scores. Junior Caleb Choate added 76 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries, giving the Colts a balanced attack that kept Brossart’s defense guessing all night. As a team, DeSales piled up 215 rushing yards, their best single-game total of the season, and added 192 passing yards with two passing touchdowns.
In the passing game, Silas Jones caught several big passes, finishing with 89 receiving yards, while Kingston Merritthauled in 59 yards and a touchdown. The offensive line deserves plenty of credit too, as they consistently opened up lanes for the running backs and gave Bischoff time to find open receivers.
For Bishop Brossart, it was a tough night. The Mustangs managed only seven points and had trouble sustaining drives against a disciplined DeSales defense. Whenever Brossart tried to gain momentum, the Colts’ front seven answered with key stops, sacks, and pressure that forced turnovers and short possessions.
The turning point in the game came midway through the second quarter, when Bischoff broke free for a long touchdown run that extended DeSales’ lead and fired up the crowd. From that point on, the Colts never looked back. Their ability to mix the run and pass kept Brossart on its heels, and their defense didn’t allow the Mustangs to get anything going downfield.
With the win, DeSales improved to 3–3 on the season, evening their record and building confidence before heading into district play against Christian Academy–Louisville. Bishop Brossart fell to 2–4, continuing a three-game losing streak as they prepare to regroup before facing Holy Cross.
This game was a clear example of DeSales football at its best — strong in the trenches, balanced on offense, and disciplined on defense. Bischoff’s leadership and playmaking ability were on full display, and the Colts looked like a team ready to make a run as the season moves forward. Bishop Brossart, meanwhile, will look to bounce back and find answers on offense as they move deeper into their schedule.
