It is that time of year for fantasy football, where dreams are made and crushed. The greatest punishments are thought of, and draft picks are made. This year, I decided to host my league with some friends. It may be my first year doing fantasy, but I will not come in last, and I could even win.
My league is even with people who love the NFL and people who don’t really care for the NFL. Some big names in my league are Kingston Merritt, Landon McKune, Lucas Oliverio, Tristen Pattee, and Carson Thompson (Big Tuna). We drafted just this last weekend, and I had the first draft pick. In draft order, my team consists of powerhouses Ja’Marr Chase, Brock Bowers, Lamar Jackson, TreVeyon Henderson, Rashee Rice, Brandon Aubrey, Jacobi Meyers, and Matthew Golden.
Brandon Aubrey is integral to my team due to one overlooked aspect of him: his team. The Cowboys are projected to not do well this year, and so Brandon Aubrey will get more snaps at kicker because less drives will get to the endzone but rather through the uprights. Rashee Rice is a wild card on this team; he is expected to get suspended from play for at least 4 games for disciplinary violations. When Rashee Rice goes out for suspension, I have Jakobi Meyers on the bench to replace him.
I have 3 of the best players (in fantasy) in their respective positions: Ja’Marr Chase, Brock Bowers, and Lamar Jackson. I will not just survive in my fantasy league but thrive. When we have to play teams that rely on running backs, we will win because running backs are more likely to get injured. A prime example of the injured running back scenario was Nick Chubb, who got to play only 8 games last year due to an injury. Nick Chubb is on my team this year, and he is the injury totem for my team. Having him on my team will prevent any of my fantasy picks from getting injured this year. Nick Chubb is integral to this team, and he will not be traded away.
Overall, my 2025 fantasy league team is legendary. With my team, that isn't heavy on the run game, but rather in the air and through the uprights. I predict that I will not place last in my first-ever fantasy league but likely thrive. I will also be making some strategic decisions with trades for better material at strategic times.
