In the two years that former Utah State quarterback Jordan Love has been starting for the Green Bay Packers, the Packers have been a mid tier team. They went 9-8 in 2023, beating the Cowboys in the playoffs and then going on to lose to the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round. And then in 2024, they got a little better, going 11-6, but then losing in the first round of the playoffs to the future Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. The Packers’ past 2 seasons haven’t been perfect by any means, however this year, they are looking to turn it around.
Let’s talk about the Packers’ franchise quarterback Jordan Love. Jordan Love has proved many times that he can be a great quarterback in the NFL, however he has tended to struggle, but then bounced back. In 2023, the Packers started off the season going 3-6. Love had 14 touchdown passes, but he also had 10 interceptions. This is where they turned it around. In the last 8 games of the season, they went 6-2. In those 8 games, Love had 18 touchdown passes, and only 1 interception. In the first round of the playoffs against the Cowboys, they won 48-32. Love had 272 passing yards, 3 touchdown passes, and not interceptions. This same thing would happen the following season. In the first 8 games, Love had 16 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions. In the last 7 games, he had 9 touchdown passes and 0 interceptions.
Let’s talk about now. It all starts with Packers first round draft pick Matthew Golden, a wide receiver out of the University of Texas. One of the Packers main issues is their receiver core. They have some exceptional receivers, such as Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, and Romeo Doubs, however none of them have proven to be a true wide receiver 1. That is what Green Bay is looking for in Matthew Golden. Mathew Golden had 58 catches, 987 yards, and 9 touchdowns in his last year at Texas.
