Hot Take: A Mayfield MVP

This year Baker Mayfield is going on an MVP run. While many people believe otherwise and that it’ll be Lamar, there are many reasons why this is Mayfield’s year. This year Baker has the best wide receiver room in the NFL depth wise, including a future hall of famer. Last year he had the same exact stats if not better than Patrick Mahomes. While yes Mayfield has had more interceptions, this is his only stat worse than Mahomes aside from passer rating.

Mayfield plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but originally was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. There he had a historic season that led the browns to their first playoff win in 26 years. He was then traded to the panthers, then the rams where in a great moment in sport history, he led the offense down the field and allowed the Rams to beat the Raiders in an iconic win. Finally, he ended up at Tampa bay.

Mayfield has an impressive stat line. In 2024 he led the team to beat both the lions and the Super Bowl champs of that year, the eagles. In the regular season he threw for 4,500 yards, 41 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions.

That is a stat line that is strong in the modern nfl, and this year with more weapons, he will get the MVP.
