On Monday Night, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. This game was being played to potentially be the number 1 team of the NFC. When the clock ran out, the Lions won with a score of 24-9.
The Lions started quickly by scoring within 5 minutes. On the following drive, the Lions defense stopped the Buccaneers on a 3rd and 6 forcing a punt. The rest of the quarter was dominated by defense as no team scored any points.
The second quarter was also dominated by defense until the last 6 minutes. Around the 6 minute mark in the 3rd quarter, Jahmyr Gibbs ran 80 yards for a touchdown. The Lions made a big defensive stand within the last 3 minutes of the half when they forced a fumble and got the recovery. The Bucs played good defense by preventing the Lions from scoring on the short yards from the fumble. On the very next drive, the Lions stripped the ball from the Buccaneers. As time expired in the first half, the Bucs were able to put their first points on the board by kicking a 53 yard field goal making the score 14-3.
The Bucs came out of the half strong by scoring a touchdown, but weren't able to convert the 2 point conversion. The Lions were able to score another touchdown in the last 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter. With 11 minutes left in the game, the Lions kicked a field goal which made the score 24-9. No points were scored after this field goal giving the Lions the win.
