Why Mark Stoops to Virginia Tech Makes sense
Why Mark Stoops to Virginia Tech is good for everyone. Mark Stoops has Kentucky trending back to how it was when he found it, one of if not the worst teams in the SEC. I feel like it’s time for a change within the program and I'll talk about why this is good for both Kentucky and Virginia Tech.
First of all from a Kentucky standpoint we could have a new voice for the program and get some hype back. If Stoops were to leave, one of the coaches Kentucky fans really want is John Sumrall, the current Tulane coach. But John Sumrall is to be linked with the Auburn job if Hugh Freeze were to be fired. Hugh Freeze could be fired anytime now and we could lose out on Sumrall. Also If Stoops were to leave it could save Kenutcky a lot of money. Even if we weren't to get Sumrall I think a new voice calling the program is the best possible thing to do, because I think Stoops can’t say or do anything to get the majority of the fanbase back on board other than winning some big games, which he hasn’t done.
Now let's talk about how this would benefit Mark Stoops. He could go to a football first school, and not have to worry about basketball. Kentucky is obviously a basketball school, but at Virginia Tech this wouldn’t even be a consideration. He could also compete in the ACC and be in the race for an ACC championship every year which is near impossible at Kentucky. He would win more games year in and year out for sure as well. Virginia Tech could also benefit from this because they get a coach who’s proven he can turn a program around. I know it doesn’t look like he's a good coach right now but I bet if he were to get a fresh start he could turn it around. Also Virginia Tech is in need of a coach very soon and they’ve missed on a lot of people already so they need to land someone soon.
I think this would benefit both parties. It might revive the fanbase a little. Especially if we were able to land Sumrall. Right now the fanbase is pretty much solely focused on basketball but if Stoops was to leave I think we could revive football back.
