The goal of this workshop is to increase student engagement through elements found in gamification.
Identify key learning/enthusiasm gaps & areas of student disconnect
Isolate weaknesses in current instructional strategies
Integrate gamification strategies into units/lessons
Integration of gamification into a unit
Creation of specific lessons
Utilization of gamification apps when applicable (see slide)
Redesign of content to enhance student engagement
Overhaul of other units as needed
Incorporate gamification (if possible) for expanded participation
Pre-workshop survey and preparation, 1 week prior to workshop: 15mins
Workshop:
Presentation and discussion: 45mins-1hour (live participation) or 20-30mins (participant-paced)
Participate in Check-in Survey: 5mins
Active learning and independent lesson building: 1-1.5hours
Post-Workshop:
Participate in Quizziz game on course content: 5-15mins
Participate in Feedback Survey: 5mins
Level Up! Website with access to surveys, presentations, games, and resources
Lessons, units, and similar materials for possible use in gamification development
Utilize the Nearpod presentation tool student-paced or with live instruction (embedded below)
Following the presentation, take a moment to fill out this brief but valuable Check-in Survey
Upon completion, use independent work time to utilize gamification strategies on own lessons/units
