On Friday, June 6th, the Depew High School Academy of Finance (AOF), partnering with DECA Club, will be hosting our 17th Annual Car & Bike Show to raise funds to support our Academy & DECA Programs. In the past, this event has brought in more than 200 cars and bikes, over 1,000 visitors, and is promoted to over 5,000 people. It’s an amazing “night out” at the High School property on Transit Road that brings our community together.
This year, we are offering local businesses an opportunity to sponsor this event (see options by clicking the Sponsor Button above). We also will be holding a basket raffle at the event, and selling chances for large ticket items (valued at $200 and up). We are hoping you might consider making a monetary donation, or submit a donation of goods and/or services to our cause. Your donation and support of the Academy will help fund student learning activities including scholarship opportunities, internships, guest speakers, field trips, and upcoming graduation expenses.
The Depew High School Academy of Finance is a career development and financial literacy program designed to give participating students the opportunity to gain real-world experiences and knowledge that will assist them in becoming contributing members of our community and future workforce. Each AOF student creates an in-depth career plan & employability portfolio: consisting of a professional resume, letters of recommendations, transcripts, examples of their work, accolades, and more. Our students participate in a live mock interview competition and develop networking, communication, and leadership skills. They attend region wide business seminars covering a plethora of topics. Students also create a detailed financial plan, through which they practice investing and participate in the National Stock Market Challenge and are required to complete 150 hours of paid internships to further gain experience & knowledge in career fields that interest them. DECA is an extra-curricular business club that offers additional opportunities, reinforcing these skills.
The Academy of Finance at Depew High School is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization. Donations made to this organization are deemed charitable donations for tax purposes. Please make checks payable to: “Depew High School Academy of Finance.”
Our students are always looking for opportunities for community service work, job shadows, and internship opportunities. If you are interested in partnering and learning more about the program, you can visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/dhsaof/ or contact me at ecartonia@depewschools.org. Thank you kindly for your continued support and consideration.
