Gawad Roces Shortfilm Festival is established as an award-giving body for the Rocesian community and annual celebration of Film Festival that upholds its core values - Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan at Makabansa, which bolsters the interest of students towards the achievement of defining a good film that cultivates the knowledge and skills that the medium was designed for. This directly addresses the need for the 21st century learners to be media and information literate, through discerning messages shown in media as an expression of ourselves, portrayal of culture and tackling of issues in today’s society in accordance to the standards and conditions of the filmmaking industry.

Following these goals in mind, the project intends to:

• Showcase the students’ technical skills and creativity in producing quality, meaningful and thought-provoking short films;

• Educate the Rocesian community to be media and information literate individuals across various issues such as bullying, mental health awareness, netiquette, internet addiction, propagation of fake news, harassment and violence, environmental conservation, deepening of faith in God, nationalism, etc;

• Generate income from ticket sales for the utilization of the school.

• Establish Gawad Roces Short Film Festival as an annual competition and award-giving body to young filmmakers in the Rocesian community.
