BIBO Thrives Amidst 2020 Pandemic!
The Bonifacio Javier National High School LRMDS coordinator, Ms. Josiah G. Obugan, together with Mr. Pompio B. Floro, Jr., BJNHS school head, and Dr. Darwin S. Bonifacio, PSDS-in-charge of BJNHS, led the implementation and district presentation of Project CRAFTS (Contextualized Remediation Activity Sheets for Thriving Students) last July 2, 2021 which aimed to showcase the developed and evaluated remediation activity sheets of BJNHS teachers amidst COVID-19 pandemic.
According to DepEd Order No. 8, Series of 2015, remediation classes are needed to prevent students from failing in any learning area at the end of the year. The said project became the opportunity of the teachers and students to meet the failed competencies of a particular subject, and to support the mechanism of the school to increase its promotion rate. Teachers, as activity sheet writers, content experts, language editors, layout editors, validators, and implementers were the pivotal roles of the project that ignited and remolded the culture of innovation of the school. The BJNHS family re-imagined and reshaped its mechanisms and innovation through LRMDS (Learning Resources Management and Development System) and turned them to “the crafters’ best practices” across learning areas as anchored on the 4 C’s, now 6 C’s of 21st century education (Develop Creativity, Embrace Culture, Work Collaboratively, Communicate Clearly, Think Critically, and Utilize Connectivity).
The ability of an organization to learn and turn that learning into action quickly is the ultimate competitive advantage, according to a former CEO of General Electric (GE) firm. The BIBO family not only survived the pandemic's obstacles, but thrived by turning them into lessons that improved the institution as a whole and helped it live up to its catchphrase, "Tatak Bonifacio, Tatak BIBO!”.
BIBO Launches Javiernamics Portal
Ms. Josiah G. Obugan, the LRMDS coordinator of Bonifacio Javier National High School, developed a state-of-the-art school learning resources website known as "Javiernamics Portal," which was virtually launched on March 21, 2021, to support and offer technical assistance to teachers and students in the distribution and access to learning, teaching, and professional development resources anchored on the CIDigital Portal of SDO Mandaluyong.
Amidst pandemic, the LRMDS coordinator utilized her technical and service-driven skills and the limited workforce her colleagues as building blocks in designing this creative initiative to produce force or dynamics that drove change or advancement inside the LRMDS of BJNHS. The term "Javiernamics" is derived from the BIBO family, also known as "Javierians," who are dynamic and victorious enough to respond to the profession's adversities. During the Division Learning Action Cell (DLAC) session of LRMDS conducted last June 28, 2022, at Mataas na Paaralang Neptali A. Gonzales (MPNAG), the Javiernamics portal was distinctly complimented and recognized for being one of the innovative, functional, and creative LR portals within the division.
As Steve Jobs once said, “Innovation is the ability to see change as an opportunity, not as a threat”. The birth of Javiernamics Portal, which continuously brings technical comfort to students and teachers of Bonifacio Javier National High School, is a powerful and opportune response of BIBO family in this ever-changing world of teaching and learning as the educators deeply embrace and live its mantra “Sulong Edukalidad”.
