May 20-26, 2019 was the conduct of the week-long Brigada Eskwela for this year. It commenced at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center where teachers from the Division of Malolos gathered for a parade. Several routes around the City of Malolos were circled by the convoy of vehicles that contained the teacher participants. The entire travel had been enjoyable and was made even livelier by the theme song of Brigada Eskwela played on repeat from beginning to end of the assigned destination.
At Marcelo H. Del Pilar National High School, the kick-off ceremony as part of Day 1 took place. It was headed by the Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Merlina P. Cruz and a few of the Education Program Supervisors from the Division. The event was also privileged to be visited by the Mayor-elect Engr. Gilbert “Bebong” Gatchalian and some newly-elected municipal councilors namely Atty. Niño Carlo Bautista, Hon. Rico Capule, and Hon. Kiko Castro who extended their warm greetings and gratitude to the teachers and division personnel.
Day 2 was spent by teachers in their respective schools. The City of Malolos High School-Canalate was actively involved in this annual national activity. A brief orientation with the PTA Officers was first executed to lay out the necessary plans to perform. The faculty then started the cleaning up of the school grounds and other facilities. Through the help of some volunteers from 4P’s, the school was helped cleaned and made orderly.
During Day 3, the school was visited by some DOJ inmates who did an impressive clean-up of the school vicinity. It was really a team-effort for it showed in what they did for the school. This was also the time when the teachers had gone to do child mapping around the barangay. This was done to keep track and make record of the profile of teenagers ranging from 13 to 17 years old residing at Canalate. The task had been completely accomplished.
Day 4, Day 5 and Day 6 had been busy schedules for everyone in the school and some volunteer students from different grade levels who generously helped and devoted their time to the entire clean-up drive. Malolos PNP also became part of this week-long activity.
The results of the week-long Brigada Eskwela had truly been pleasing. From the dull and worn out armchairs which turned bright and lively after being fixed and painted colorfully; the messy floors which had been swept, mopped, and waxed; the dusty curtains which had been washed; the pale walls which were beautifully decorated now. All these and more were made possible through the hard work of everybody who worked as a team.
