Baan Km3 National High School, located at Barangay Baan Km. 3, Butuan City, was formerly known as Alviola Integrated School – Annex. It was established as an extension of Alviola Integrated School – Main Campus, sharing the same School I.D. 501553 and serving Junior High School learners in the community.

     The school was founded in 2014 through the initiative and collaborative efforts of concerned parents and barangay leaders who recognized the need for a more accessible secondary school within the locality. Its establishment was supported by the results of a barangay mapping activity, which revealed the increasing demand for a nearby learning institution that would cater to learners from Amamaylan, Baono, Habitat, Bashai, Ora Bashai, New Road, selected puroks of Barangay Baan, Era Housing, and Baan 2.

       During its early years, the school operated within the premises of F.R. Sibayan Central Elementary School, utilizing some of its classrooms as temporary learning spaces. Under the leadership of Mrs. Anacleta S. Acain, the school head at that time, classes officially began with only two (2) dedicated teachers offering Grade 7 classes to a small group of learners. Despite its humble beginnings, the establishment of the Annex became a significant milestone in bringing Junior High School education closer to the youth of Barangay Baan Km. 3.

      In 2018, leadership was entrusted to Ms. Rachel S. Rendon, who continued the development of the Annex and strengthened its academic foundation. By 2020, under the leadership of Mr. Rodrigo H. Madelo, Jr., further improvements were implemented to enhance instructional delivery, school operations, and community involvement.

         In 2022, Mrs. Genalyn M. Dispo was designated as the new school head. Under her administration, the school experienced remarkable growth and development. The teaching force expanded to twenty (20) teachers, and the institution continued to accommodate the increasing number of learners seeking quality secondary education.

       For seven years, the Annex continued its operations at the back portion of F.R. Sibayan Central Elementary School. However, in School Year 2023–2024, through the approval of the Schools Division Superintendent, Mrs. Minerva T. Albis, the Annex was granted permission to temporarily transfer to the New Barangay Complex of Baan Km. 3. This milestone was made possible through the request and initiative of School Head Mrs. Genalyn M. Dispo, with the unwavering support of Barangay Captain Hon. Gemma P. Tabada and the Barangay Council. The school utilized the Evacuation Center as temporary classrooms while awaiting the completion of its permanent school site.

        Through a barangay resolution, a one-hectare lot was donated as the permanent site of Alviola Integrated School – Annex. The construction of its official school building was successfully completed, and the new campus formally opened in School Year 2024–2025. Through the collective efforts of the school administration, faculty, and the Barangay Council of Baan Km. 3 headed by Hon. Gemma P. Tabada, the process of converting the Annex into an independent national high school was actively pursued.

        On December 15, 2025, a transition in school leadership took place as Mrs. Genalyn M. Dispo concluded her service as school head and Mr. Edwin C. Fuego assumed leadership as the incoming principal. Under the new administration, the school continued its journey toward independence and institutional growth.

      March 26, 2026 marked a historic milestone for the entire school community as Alviola Integrated School – Annex was officially approved and recognized by the Department of Education Regional Office XIII – Caraga through the issuance of Approval to Operate No. JHS Public 005, s. 2026. The approval, signed by Regional Director Maria Ines C. Asuncion, officially established the institution as Baan Km3 National High School. This achievement represented the fulfillment of a long-standing dream shared by the school, the Barangay Council, and the entire Baan Km. 3 community—a dream rooted in providing accessible and quality education for future generations.

      On June 17, 2026, another significant milestone was celebrated when Baan Km3 National High School officially announced the use of its new School I.D. No. 306579 through the school’s official Facebook page. The issuance of the School I.D. prior to this date marked the formal recognition of the institution by the Department of Education Central Office as an independent and existing national high school. The public announcement symbolized the beginning of a new chapter in the school’s identity and service to the community.

         On June 19, 2026, the selection of the official school logo was conducted during the First Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) General Assembly. The activity was participated in by parents and students as part of the school’s initiative to involve its stakeholders in establishing the official identity of Baan Km3 National High School. Five logo entries were presented, with designs created by Mr. Vic G. Bahinting, Mr. Adrian P. Tastar, and Ms. Christine Jane Engalan.

          The final selection was determined through a voting process involving the collective votes of parents, students, teachers, and Barangay Council officials of Baan Km. 3. With the majority of votes, the logo design created by Mr. Adrian P. Tastar was selected as the official emblem of the school. On June 28, 2026, the chosen logo was officially launched through the school’s Facebook platform and has since been used in official school communications and transactions. 

       On June 24, 2026, the school officially announced and began utilizing its official email address and Learner Information System (LIS) account. These essential platforms, which had been granted and established prior to the announcement, further strengthened the operational independence of Baan Km3 National High School and supported its administrative functions as a newly recognized educational institution.

          Today, Baan Km3 National High School continues to grow as a thriving institution of learning. Built through the unity, dedication, and aspirations of its stakeholders, the school remains committed to providing quality, accessible, and community-centered education for every Baanian learner.
