Western Enrile Vocational High School (WEVHS) formerly known as the Enrile Vocational High School-Annex, Liwan Sur, Enrile, Cagayan. It was founded on June 3, 1996.
The establishment of WEVHS was initiated by then DepED Regional Director-Region II, Dr. Pedro T. Trinidad and was created with the House Bill that was sponsored by Honorable Dr. Manuel N. Mamba, the then congressman of the Third District of Cagayan, because of his belief that education is a primary concern.
The total land area of the school lot is two (2) hectares and it was donated by the late Fernando Pascua. The school started its operation with only one classroom building donated by the Hon. Assistant Secretary Marcial A. Salvatiera from his discretionary fund. Under the administration of Hon. Congressman Manuel N. Mamba, two (2) additional classrooms were constructed. Furthermore, a basketball court was built and the fencing of the school was undertaken all coming from his Countryside Development Fund (CDF).
The rooms were not enough to accommodate the students, so after some years, again the Congressman gave another two (2) room building and another one (1) room building with 100 tablet armchairs which is very much needed by the students. He also funded the construction of a multipurpose gymnasium which is very useful during school programs and other activities to house not only the students and teachers but also guests/visitors, and parents.
The Congressman did not stop there. He worked on the General Appropriation Act (GAA) and the Legislation of the school name Enrile Vocational High School-Annex to Enrile Vocational School with legislated items and with initial Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) of Fifty Thousand Pesos (P 50,000) per year.
Through the efforts and support of the following people: the School Principal, Mr. Diego A. Quinto, the retired Vocational School Administrator of Enrile Vocational High School, Mr. Pedro B. Favila, the former Schools Division Superintendent of the Division of Cagayan, Dr. Jose G. Rosendo, the former Regional Director of DepED-Region II, Dr. Teresita G. Domalanta and the Regional Director of Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Ms. Isabel C. Taguinod, CPA, all OFW teacher positions and the teachers stationed in the school were all accommodated as permanent teachers of the said school with assistance of Director Bismarck R. Turingan, CPA, Cluster Director of the Commission on Audit (COA).
In 2008, the school was listed as one of the 282 technical-vocational (tech-voc) high school implementing the Competency Based Curriculum - Strengthened Technical Vocational Education Program (CBC-STVEP) per DepED Memorandum No. 353, s. 2008. At present, the school is offering five (5) specializations namely: Furniture and Cabinet Making (FCM), Computer Hardware Servicing (CHS), Garments Trade, Food Trades and Electricity.
In 2009, the Enrile Vocational School (EVS) – Liwan Sur was later renamed to Western Enrile Vocational High School (WEVHS) after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of the Provincial Government of Cagayan issued Resolution No. 182-2009 entitled “Resolution approving the renaming of Enrile Vocational School (EVS) at Liwan Sur, Enrile, Cagayan to Western Enrile Vocational High School (WEVHS), Liwan Sur, Enrile, Cagayan.”
