SCHOOL LOCATION AND HISTORY
Turac National High School is one of the pioneering barangay high schools in San Carlos City Division. It was organized in the year 1966 under the able stewardship of founder of barangay high school, Dr. Pedro Orata, and under the administration of Superintendent Domingo Datuin with Mr. Pedro Munoz as the elementary school principal.
The school is located within the radius of one to two kilometers of the nearby five barangays namely: Turac, Balite Sur, Magtaking, Payapa and a little part of Mapolopolo to which quality instruction is being offered.
In its first year of operation there were only 48 enrollees in the first year level with one secondary teacher. Classes were held in the elementary campus. In school year 1969-1970, it has a complete secondary school curriculum with registered enrollees of 141 from whom 19 students were the pioneering graduates. From then on, an average of 5% increase of yearly enrolment has been observed.
By virtue of Executive Order No. 189, placing all Public Secondary school teachers under the administrative Supervision of DECs dated June 10, 1987, all barangay high schools were known as “Newly Nationalized High Schools” which paved the way for them to enjoy the same rights and privileges of their elementary school counterparts.
