History of Sunny Brooke Elementary School
Sunny Brooke Elementary School, located in the City of General Trias, occupies an estimated land area of 14,632.435 square meters owned by the Department of Education. The school currently consists of seven (7) DepEd buildings and four (4) Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC) buildings, housing a total of 77 regular classrooms and nine (9) makeshift classrooms for kindergarten learners.
At present, the school is staffed by 125 teachers who serve approximately 4,167 pupils. The majority of the learners come from Barangay San Francisco and Barangay Santiago in the City of General Trias.
The establishment of Sunny Brooke Elementary School was made possible through the joint efforts of the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC), the Municipal Government of General Trias, and Filinvest Land, Inc. The PRRC, a government entity created under Executive Order No. 54 and amended by Executive Order No. 65, s. 1999, was represented by its Executive Director, Bingle H. B. Gutierrez. The Municipal Government of General Trias was represented by then Municipal Mayor Dencito P. Campaña, while Filinvest Land, Inc. was represented by its Vice Chairman, Andrew T. Gotianun Jr.
The need to establish the school arose from the increasing population of families relocated from the Pasig River who became residents of Sunny Brooke I and Sunny Brooke II Subdivisions.
The construction of the school was completed in January 2008, as certified by Municipal Engineer Engr. Norman Bugtong and approved by then Municipal Mayor Luis A. Ferrer IV. Subsequently, on June 3, 2009, a Deed of Donation was executed between Filinvest Land, Inc., represented by Vice Chairman Andres T. Gotianun Jr., and the Department of Education Region IV-A, represented by Regional Director Paraluman R. Giron. The donated property, with a total area of 14,632.435 square meters, is covered by Transfer Certificates of Title Nos. T-748915 (portion), T-937594, and T-937595 (portion).
The formal opening of the school for the School Year 2009–2010 was initiated through Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 09-34, requested by Board Member Carlos S. Viniegra II. The resolution was approved by then Vice Mayor Fernando V. Campaña and noted by Mayor Luis A. Ferrer IV. In support of this initiative, Dr. Ma. Belen S. Alvarez, District Supervisor of General Trias II, also endorsed the opening of the school through a formal letter dated May 28, 2009.
