SCIENCE - its like MAGIC but REAL.
A little science estranges man from God but a lot of it brings Him back - Louis Pasteur
Welcome to Rizal Elementary School, Panabo City! The biggest elementary school in Panabo City Division, population-wise. This is our Science Month 2022 celebration. Take a tour and enjoy. Basta Rizalian, SciAmazing 'yan!
RIZAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RIGHT AT THE HEART OF THE CITY
Rizal Elementary School covers an area of 19,863 square meters with 74 instructional classrooms and 12 non-instructional rooms. Currently, 3,642 students are enrolled for SY 2022-2023. The school offers a school-initiated Special Science for Elementary Education (SSES) curriculum from grades 1 to 6. With this curriculum in existence for almost 10 years now, Rizal Elementary School has produced graduates who qualified in Philippine Science High School and Panabo National High School under the Science, Technology, and Engineering (STE) curriculum. In addition, Rizal Elementary School has also qualified and championed in the different regional and national competitions in Science and Mathematics. With 118 teaching force, Rizal Elementary School actively participates in every competitions sponsored or endorsed by the Department of Education. Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs is one organization that Rizal Elementary School is affiliated with. Teachers and students always look forward to the annual Science Olympiad. This year, with the school setting getting back to the old normal, we hope to get back on track and participate in such events if already allowed.
The pandemic forced us to shift from face -to-face instruction to modular and on-line modality. Student-teacher interaction was limited and learning was somehow hampered. However, this did not stop Rizalians to find ways to reach out to students through virtual means. Teachers as well reached-out to experts for partnership. The Rizal Elementary School Science Coordinator tapped Philippine Science High School with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to conduct a Seminar-Workshop on Technology integration in Science and Mathematics during remote and blended learning. As a result, Science and Math teachers were taught on the use of different digital tools and the STARBOOK of DOST.
Now, with the face-to-face learning starting to fully blossom in time of the Science Month celebration, it is no wonder that the whole school community is one in all the projects. programs, and activities in line with the Science Month. The support of the school head, teachers, student, and parents in the different activities show how united the school community is when it comes to honing learning experiences for the students.
This is Rizal Elementary School, we take every learning opportunity seriously.
Basta Rizalian, SciAmazing 'yan!
September has been declared National Science Club Month (NSCM) under Presidential Proclamation No. 264, s. 2002. The said proclamation authorizes the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Philippine Society of Youth and Science Clubs (PSYSC), and Science Club Advisers’ Association of the Philippines (SCAAP) to implement plans and activities pertinent to the National Science Club Month.
Thus, Rizal Elementary School, as a family of the Department of education and an active member of Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs, fully support and implement Presidential Proclamation No. 264, s, 2002.
RATIONALE:
Science education aims to develop scientific literacy among learners that will prepare them to be informed and participative citizens who are able to make judgments and decisions regarding applications of scientific knowledge that may have social, health, or environmental impacts.
The science curriculum recognizes the place of science and technology in everyday human affairs. It integrates science and technology in the social, economic, personal, and ethical aspects of life. The science curriculum promotes a strong link between science and technology, including indigenous technology, thus preserving our country’s cultural heritage.
The Science Month Celebration for this year has the theme - “GENESCAPE: Primary Perspective, Amplifying Advancements”. Science month is not just a “celebration” but it is also showcasing the talents and skills of every student in terms of innovation and discovery. This also enables students to enjoy science concepts and to engage them on scientific issues, trends, and processes.
THE ACTIVITY DESIGN
Everybody was ecstatic. This is how everyone is described during the first planning and conference of the Science teachers of Rizal Elementary School. Despite the very busy schedule and overlapping of activities, teachers were able to find ways to convene and discuss about possible ways on how to strategically carry out activities for the Science Month without disrupting classes. Indeed, more heads are better than one. By God's grace, the Activity Design for the Science Month 2022 celebration was approved by the school head and supported by the PTA.
The FRONTLINERS
The men and women behind the success of the Science Month 2022 celebration.
TEAMWORK makes the dream work!
Teamwork is selfless. It focuses on the end goal. Teamwork runs on the concept that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It’s the classic “one plus one equals three” idea. Personalities and skillsets differ which can either create personal conflict or complement each others' weaknesses. When the entire team focuses on doing great work, the team members’ differences turn into strengths and goals are met and even exceeded.
Kudos Science mentors of Rizal Elementary School!
SCIENCE MONTH 2022 EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED
“Learning outside the classroom activities are often authentic, hands-on, and interactive."
The goal of education is to prepare students for life after school. Self-awareness and more specialized talents are more in demand in today's culture. By incorporating learning opportunities outside of the classroom, teachers can assist pupils in advancing more quickly. By demonstrating to students how concepts and learning in class are used in real-world situations, taking classroom learning outside can enhance their educational experience.
Rizal Elementary School Science Teachers Organization made sure that the activities in the Science Month celebration is not confined in the four corners of the classroom, ensuring that what is taught in the classroom is translated and applied in the real world. Our partnership with City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) is very instrumental in achieving this goal in educating the students. Our participation in the International Coastal Cleanup with the teachers, students, and parents made everyone aware of the current condition of our coastal area and what we can do about it. In addition, CENRO also conducted a symposium on environmental awareness teaching the students of their role in taking care of the environment. The culminating program which showcased different innovative attires made from recyclable materials also has a great impact on the children's awareness as seen and heard as they introduced themselves and explained the significance of their creative attire.

The symposium became more interesting and interactive with these goodies from our stakeholders, Coca-cola and Bisdak sa Germany. Children listened intently to the speakers for a chance to get a free snack if they participate actively.
GAME TIME!!!
With the very short attention span of the children, it is good to break the ice in between talks for a chance to get the free snack as well.

YOU COMPLETE ME: An Innovative Science Competition using the Government Issued Human Torso Model
In 2019, the delivery of the last batch of Science and Mathematics, manipulatives and apparatus was received by Rizal Elementary School. Having the biggest number of enrollees in the elementary level in the entire Division of Panabo City, we have received a significant number of supplies. One of which is the Human Torso Model. We have received 4 life size models and 4 miniature models. Sadly, pandemic happened and the supplies were just kept inside the steel cabinets.
Now that things are slowly getting back to the old normal, we grab every opportunity to make learning more authentic and fun. With the use of the Human Torso Model in this game we call "You Complete Me" , students became more interested in leaning about the human body.
This contest is played by groups of three. The aim is to assemble the model correctly. The group whole can correctly assemble the model in the shortest time wins the contest. A uniform timer is provided to each group courtesy of Aboitiz Foundation.

OUR PARTNERS AND STAKEHOLDERS
When the school, community organizations, private sectors, and individuals work together to support learning, everyone benefits. Partnerships can serve to strengthen, support, and even transform individual partners, resulting in improved program quality, more efficient use of resources, and better alignment of goals . Rizal Elementary School's Science Month celebration is blessed to have willing and generous partners and stakeholders that supported its programs and activities.
Through their support, Science month celebration was made more meaningful and enjoyable. Cash donations from the Rizal Elementary School Parent - Teachers Association helped in mobilizing the all the activities from start to finish. Coca-cola Beverages Philippines, Incorporated donated juice drinks and the content creator of a YouTube channel, Bisdak sa Germany also donated foods. Indeed, the students were happy receiving their prizes along with the certificates and medals. CENRO, Panabo City being our consistent partner through the years provided the opportunity for Science Clubbers of Rizal Elementary School to translate learning to real life situation. Participation in the International Coastal Cleanup made us realize the importance of protecting our coastal areas.
