The Department of Education commits itself to the development of the full potential of students in all areas. Various programs and projects have been implemented to achieve this goal. One of its thrusts is to produce quality learners in the field of science and technology. Through Special Curricular Programs (SCP), the Science, Technology, and Engineering (STE) Program is envisioned that DepEd will produce highly responsible, morally upright, globally competitive, and work-ready learners imbued with desirable values and equipped with 21st century skills that can contribute to nation-building and national transformation while preserving Filipino culture, heritage, and identity. The learners of this program are provided with opportunities through an enhanced science-technology-oriented curriculum that will prepare them for higher education or work with a strong focus on Science, Technology, Mathematics and Research.
To qualify, interested learners must have met/ possessed the following criteria, to wit:
1. quarterly grade of 85% or higher in English, Science and Mathematics and a grade of 83% or higher in the other subjects
2. good moral character; and
3. preferably in good health and fit to undergo a rigorous academic program.
Students who meet the required qualifications will undergo an interview, school-level examination, and Division level Qualifying exam.

1. The school shall organize a Special Program Committee composed of:
a. one program coordinator or school head
b. one SSP teacher
c. one head teacher/master teacher/coordinator
d. Guidance counselor/Designated Guidance Counselor
2. Preliminary selection through documentary evaluation to assess the readiness/qualification of applicants based on the basic requirements as follows:
a. NSO/PSA birth certificate
b. Medical Certificate
c. Certificate of Good Moral Character
d. SF 9 (Report Card)
3. Administration of School level Entrance examination and Division level Qualifying Examination.
4. Interview of the applicant together with the parent/guardian to validate the submitted documents and to gauge the possibility of the applicant to succeed in the program. Standardized questionnaire will be used by the interviewers.
