The implementation of special curricular class programs started in 2012 through DO 46, S. 2012, known as Policy Guidelines on The Implementation of The Special Curricular Programs at The Secondary Level. In the transition of the Department of Education to the K to 12 Curriculum, its implementation was also reiterated to enhance students’ capabilities in Science and Mathematics. The Science, Technology, and Engineering Program offers learners an enriched Science and technology-oriented curriculum that will prepare the learners for higher education or work in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Plaridel Integrated National High School STE Program started last school year 2015-2016, when Mrs. Redella Vista, former EPS in Science pioneered the conduct of the Division-initiated Science, Technology, and Engineering Program in the Schools Division of Laguna. It intends to provide opportunities for the development of scientific attitudes, technological skills, and higher-order thinking skills among our learners. It is a 4-year program in Junior High School, starting in Grade 7 to Grade 10 where students have an elective subject of Research I-IV. This idea came up about the existence of the Senior High School which offers Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics strands. This is a great opportunity for the students to be equipped with the necessary skills they need to pursue their Science-related career goals.
