The Grade 9 Math wizards of PNHS-ME were declared 3rd place in Congressional District 1 and 7th place in Division of Cagayan during the 2018 Metrobank MTAP DepEd Math Challenge at Aparri School of Arts and Trades, Aparri, Cagayan held last January 19, 2018.  

       The MTAP challengers were mark Jayson Abella, Hermie Aber and Kleny Jhain Rocero. 

       Out of 50 questions, Abella garnered a score of 31 points made him to be the 2nd top scorer of Grade 9 in CD1 with 5 points difference from the highest top scorer from Aparri East national High School. Moreover, Aber scored 23 points and Rocero scored 8 points. The first high scores were combined together to get the final team score. They were asked to compete in 2018 Metrobank MTAP DepEd Math Challenge Division Finals (Orals).

      Ms. Marlyn F. urbina, Grade 9 year level adviser, Math teacher was the official coach of Pattao NHS Maddalero Extension who contributed to the success and achievements of th contestants. She coached and trained them all throughout the competition. 

     Despite the challenge of her being the only on (1) Math teacher of the school, she was given the task to coach all year levels from Grade 7 to 10, she still managed at least one (1) team to advance on the next level of the competition.

     In an interview with the movers," The wizards said that, despite the lack of preparation wherein students were only given four days to review before the competition, the grade 9 student still excel in the competition and brought pride and honor to the school. Determination, positivity and prayer were their weapon in the practice and contest.
