RATIONALE
NEAP recognizes the vital role that school leaders play in managing, setting the goals and providing directions to every school in the country. It is only but natural that NEAP will seek ways to enhance these leaders’ competencies. It is fortunate that the DepEd developed a partnership with World Bank through the Teacher Effectiveness and Competencies Enhancement Project (TEACEP). NEAP acts as the lead convenor for Component 1.
“The TEACEP will support NEAP in the development of the instructional coaching and mentoring program, associated materials, and the implementation of the program in the regions.” The training program will be registered under NEAP-recognized professional development programs with corresponding professional development credits. (Component 1: Instructional Coaching at the School Level)
The overall focus of TEACEP will be to ensure that coaching is more formal, consistent, and effective. The model principles for effective coaching will be: intensive, individualized, context-specific, and focused. The coaching will include core elements that will be applicable across grades, but also grade-specific elements. There will be general groupings of grades K-3 and grades 4-6, along with more targeted aspects by grade.
