Matab-ang National High School started to operate on July 1969 with two-year levels, first and second years, staffed with five young teachers, two of whom were from Lapu-lapu City. Now, the school has grown and currently has 62 teaching and non-teaching personnel headed by Mr. Geraldo D. Lana, who is a proud alumnus of the school.

Matab-ang National High School is one of the biggest secondary schools in Toledo City Division with its population of 1,335 Junior High School and 459 Senior High School students for School Year 2021-2022. its feeder schools include Dumlog, Talavera, Calong-calong, Matab-ang, Mainggit, Minolos, and Luas.
It has 11 school buildings with 27 classrooms, 6 shopwork classrooms, 1 science laboratory, 1 computer laboratory, and 1 speech laboratory, and a non-standard audio-visual room.
