Asuncion on his retirement: ‘ 37 years of public service witnessed a life of toil’

Sir Luciano Asuncion, the school head who retired last month , told The Precursor that his entire 37 years of public service witnessed a life of toil , owing to the struggles he went through in running two public secondary schools.
In his younger years, he transferred Sta.Teresita National High School to a new site; in the last two decades of his public service, he opened a public secondary school to the people in the village where he grew up.
Asuncion recounted how he exhausted all means to meet all the requirements with strict adherence to conditions set by the Department of Education that would warrant the operation of a public secondary school in Barangay Luga.
“In my 37 years of public service, I worked hard. It was tiresome. My life was a life of toil , ” Asuncion said in an interview.
He said, however that he did not regret anything. “ It was fulfilling in the end.”
“My only request is for DepEd and LNHS to not forget my father’s legacy,” Attorney Maria Liza Asuncion Guzman , his daughter and only child, said in the comment section of a facebook post. “I am proud of what he had accomplished to help those poor people who deserve to have a better access to education…I am requesting that the name of my father, Dr. Luciano Urani Asuncion be indicated as the Founder of LNHS.”, she added.
The administration and faculty assured Attorney Guzman that the efforts of his father will not go unrecognized and that years from now, they will make sure everyone will “ see “ the works of her father.
LNHS ranked 2nd in Search for Best Brigada Eskwela Implementer 2019
LNHS ranked 2nd in the 2019 Congressional Search for Best Brigada Implementing School Small School Category-Secondary Level in July.
The school earned the appreciation of Madam Eden Malabag, the district supervisor, who extended her congratulations. “ Ang daming nagbago pero may mga kailangan pang ayusin".

The Junior High School outnumbers the Senior High School in manpower but according to Ma’am Venus Bautista, the head teacher, the output of the senior students could not be outdone.
Bautista is thankful to the stakeholders who continually support the school by giving cash or in-kind donation and to the teachers who give their full support to every undertaking.
Project FLESH (Ferrying Learners for Ensured Safety going Home)
The Barangay Luga Council and Luga National High School entered into a memorandum of agreement for a free ride for 11 students who were identified by their class advisers with irregular attendance on July _____.
Sir Mark Javier, an Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao teacher ; Sir Nicko Cecilio Tumbaga, the records officer, and Sir Jackson Villegas, the guidance advocate came up with a program called Ferrying Learners for Ensured Safety going Home ( FLESH ) after the irregular attendance of some students were brought up in a meeting.
The Barangay Luga Council, represented by Barangay Captain Agbisit, included in their regular session the request for free ride of LNHS and approved it. the following week.
Indicated in the memorandum of agreement are safety protocols to be followed and the waiver of liabilities of both parties should students fail to abide by the said protocols.

DepEd distributes Science, Mathematics Equipment

Science teachers in Luga National High School are now more confident of having a demonstration lesson after the distribution of Science and Mathematics Equipments (SME) for Grades 11-12 students in Public Senior High School which included the school in March this year.
The shortage of laboratory apparatus has been a problem in the school for the past years. The teachers used to either draw the apparatus on a piece of cartolina or download from the internet as visual aid.
Among the apparatus are compound microscopes, sets of triple beam balance, voltmeter, retort stand, human body model and glasswares.
DepEd Order 17, S. 17 dated April , 2017 in the DepED website indicates that the appropriated funds in the General Appropriations Act under DepEd Operations Major Final Output ( MFO2) Basic Education Services for Fiscal Years 2015-2016 were utilized to procure the equipment.
