OVERALL DESCRIPTION/ Profile of the School and Community
Municipality of Buguey is situated at the northern most part of the province of Cagayan. It is bounded on the north by the Babuyan channel, on the south by the municipality of Lallo, on the east by the town of Sta. Teresita (formerly part of Buguey) and on the west is the commercial town of Aparri. It is approximately located 612 kilometers away from Manila and 110 kilometers away from Tuguegarao City.
Buguey, predominantly called the Crab Capital of the North has a total area of 17,971,839 hectares where an aggregate area of 211,809.4 hectares covers freshwater fishponds and 41.29 % comprises swamplands and are developed to aqua silvi fishponds. About 3.11% are public lands while the rest are now privately owned operated fishponds. Within the poblacion of Buguey are the two main bodies of water called the Buguey Lagoon and Babuyan Channel. These are rich sources of aquatic foods like crabs, prawns, shrimps, lobsters, oysters and a wide variety of fishes including seaweeds. These have been considered one of the greatest natural resources that Buguey has are its thousands of hectares of swampy land suitable for fishpond purposes, it is noted for its fishing industry.
