In the implementation of the school canteen operations, we strictly follow the provisions of DepEd Order No. 8, s. 2007, “Revised Implementing Guidelines on the Operation and Management of School Canteens in Public Elementary and Secondary Schools,” and DepEd Order No. 13, s. 2017, “Policy and Guidelines on Healthy Food and Beverage Choices in Schools and in DepEd Offices.” These policies ensure that the school canteen promotes nutritious, safe, and affordable food choices while operating in a non-profit, service-oriented manner that supports the health and well-being of learners.
The school follow DepEd Order No. 13, s. 2017 introduces a color-coded food classification system to guide the selection and provision of food and beverages sold or served in schools and DepEd offices. This policy aims to promote and develop healthy eating habits among learners and personnel by encouraging nutritious, safe, and affordable food choices. The classification system uses green, yellow, and red categories to identify which food items are recommended, should be consumed in moderation, or are discouraged/prohibited.
