SCHOOL CURRENT SITUATION
The Katualan Elementary School was established in 1945 with the help of the Barangay Official and the Youth, led by Mr. Fernando Gabe Sr. Deputy Mayor Perez of Bunawan and Mayor Gregorio Dujali of Panabo also lent their support in the school's establishment. Originally, it was a primary school, but due to its growing population, it became a complete Elementary School in 1967. The school is about 500 meters from the heart of the Barangay and is approximately 34 kilometers from the City of Panabo. It has a total land area of 6,526 sq. meters. The community experiences rainy and dry seasons and is known for producing corn, mangoes, lanzones, bananas, cacao, and upland rice. The primary economic activities of the community are farming and business. Cebuano is the predominant language spoken in the area. Katualan Elementary School is one of the 11 schools in Panabo South District 1, Division of Panabo City. It has seven competent teachers.
KES is situated near several schools that are available for enrollment. San Roque Elementary School is located just 8 kilometers before reaching Katualan Elementary School, making it a convenient option. Gorgonio Tajo Sr. National High School is the next nearest school, located in Davao City, which is 10 to 12 kilometers away from KES. Some children who live in the area may attend schools outside of Panabo City, such as Callaway Elementary School and Sta. Maria Elem. School because KES is also a boundary of the Davao City area. The number of students enrolled in KES varies over time because the families in the area rely on farming, and their income can fluctuate. As a result, some children may be enrolled in nearby schools, while others may not. Overall, the establishment of public schools in nearby areas such as Sta. Maria, Callawa, Buhangin, and Davao City has had a significant impact on the student population of KES.
