Kalawaan Elementary School (KES) traces its origins to 1962, when the municipal government of Pasig approved the establishment of a local public school in response to the request of the community leaders of Barangay Kalawaan. During its initial year of operation, classes were conducted in rented houses due to the absence of a permanent school site.
The formal school grounds were acquired earlier in 1957, when a 2,000-square-meter parcel of land—previously used as a rice field—was purchased for the construction of a school building. In 1974, an additional 1,850 square meters was secured, expanding the campus to a total of 3,850 square meters.
Over the years, Kalawaan Elementary School has continued to grow alongside the community it serves. In 2021, a new school building was inaugurated by the City Government of Pasig, demonstrating ongoing support for educational development and ensuring that the school remains responsive to the evolving needs of its learners.
Today, Kalawaan Elementary School remains a dedicated public educational institution under Pasig City School District II, committed to delivering accessible, inclusive, and quality basic education for the children of Kalawaan and nearby communities.
