HISTORY OF JOHN J. RUSSELL MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL

JOHN J. RUSSELL MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL formerly known as SIBUL SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL (SSHS) is one of the four secondary public schools in the town of San Miguel, province of Bulacan. The school is located at the footsteps of the Sierra Madre mountains in Barangay Sibul Springs, a place endowed with natural beauty and a community supportive of all the school’s endeavor of educating its young people. Under the leadership of Ms. Emma Sta. Ana, then a district supervisor with cooperation of the Municipal Council Head headed by Mayor Marcelo G. Aure and the barangay officials, the school was established. Its inaugural class started in 1968 with 50 students handled by two teachers, namely Filipina Sayas-Magdangal and Felicidad Velayo-Sarmiento. The school shared its facilities with Sibul Elementary School (SES) funded by the municipal and barangay councils. In the year 1987, the school was categorized as nationalized high school..
