The school is situated in the heart of a formerly sleepy town which was transformed into a highly urbanized city on December 8, 2004 as a result of the recount of the results of the city plebiscite held in 1998. Today, the school is enjoying the privileges and support of the city government. The school is comprised of two (2) campuses - the main situated in Tuktukan with over two thousand five hundred (2500) students now and the annex in Ususan, serving the needs of one thousand five hundred (1500) students in all year levels. The school, with its one hundred fifty (150) strong teaching force, is geared towards achieving the goals it has set and that is – the provision of quality education for all. General Ricardo G.Papa Sr.Memorial High School is a former Annex of Taguig Municipal High School (Lower Bicutan) It can be recalled in the 70’s and early 80’s that the elementary graduates of Taguig I had to bear physical and financial hardships of traveling from their homes in Taguig to the neighboring schools in Pateros, Makati and Pasig in order to acquire secondary education. With the initiative and concern for the youth of Taguig, Municipal and school officials led by then District Supervisor, Dr. Juanita B. Carlos the school was established in 1984 as Taguig Municipal High School Ususan Annex. The school started its operation with the two classrooms donated by the Mariano Family of Ususan, 5 teachers and 149 first year students. However, due to its strategic location, before long, it held the distinction of being the most accessible high school in the locality. As such, it had to expand its physical facilities to meet the educational demands of its rapidly increasing enrollment. This was carried out with the construction of additional ten classrooms by the local government and another three classrooms by the PTA. But still, these structures which at the same time served as perimeter fence to the 1,953 sq. meter lot were not enough to accommodate all those that sought admission.
In compliance with the government ‘s thrust, Education for All, school and local government officials pooled their efforts once more to pave the way to another expansion; hence the TUKTUKAN Campus with 10-classroom building came into picture. This was made possible when the Municipal Council permitted the school to occupy a part of the 10,629 sq. meters Municipal Government compound, which is located at Tuktukan, Taguig and bounded on the North by Gen. Luna St. on the South by A. Mabini St., on the East by the property of Teodoro and Alejandro Santos and on the West by Versoza St. The site assigned to the school by Deed of Usufruct has an aggregate area of approximately 2,648 sq meters more or less is the southernmost portion of the municipal compound. In 1994, by virtue of Municipal Council Resolution no. 14, and the subsequent approval hereof in accordance with DECS Order No. 5, s. 1989, the school was separated from its mother school on July 25,1994 and was renamed GEN. RICARDO G. PAPA SR. MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL in honor of the first military general of Taguig. A few years after two buildings were also constructed. First is the three-story building which was built through the initiative of then Representative of Taguig and Pateros District, Alan Peter S. Cayetano, and the other one which was donated by then Rep. Juan Ponce Enrile through his Congressional Fund. At present, Gen. Ricardo G. Papa Sr. Memorial High School- Main Campus has 3 buildings being used in catering the educational needs of its more than 2500 students with the help of its 88 dedicated teachers, while in Ususan Campus has 4 buildings that house its 1,500 students being taken care of by its 63 strong faculty members and School Head.
