Baras National High School (BNHS) stands as a testament to dedication, resilience, and progress within the community of Baras, Rizal. Established in 1997, the school began as a small initiative to meet the town's educational needs, evolving over the years into a respected institution known for academic excellence, community partnerships, and leadership in innovative programs.
Baras National High School is currently located at Barangay San Juan that comprises a number of sitios, one of which is Sitio Malalim where the school is situated. Baras National High School is a quiet, peaceful, child-friendly school which is also called a “school in a garden” for it is surrounded by numerous trees and plants. A school whose inhabitants show the culture and civilization that is very simple yet representing the entire family unit of the municipality. Its new crop of citizens is aware of the progress in the neighboring barangays. It has a total of 50,000 square meters or a total of 5 hectares of land. Geographically, it is shaped like a rose-leaf lying between Barangay San Jose and Barangay Rizal as its head part dipping narrowly into the mountain high. The inhabitants are engaged in farming and poultry raising as their main source of livelihood. Therefore, being geographically located in a mountainous area, access to the internet services like email and the World Wide Web is a challenge for everyone due to poor signal strength. However, this does not disconnect the willingness of teachers to provide support for developing students’ learning, knowledge and skills.
The school emphasizes hands-on learning and innovation, particularly in agriculture and entrepreneurship, preparing students for future challenges and opportunities. BNHS is committed to creating a supportive environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The community plays a vital role in the school's success, with strong partnerships that enhance educational experiences and provide resources for various programs. Through collaboration with parents, local organizations, and stakeholders, BNHS cultivates a rich learning environment that empowers students to become responsible and active members of society. Together, they strive to build a brighter future for the students and the community at large.
