Curricular Offerings
Curricular Offerings
Students’ learning depends not only on the teachers but a general responsibility of each person surrounding the students. However, every successful graduation is anchored in current policies which in turn are the basis for students’ learning. So, it is important that every school has so -called Circular Offerings.
For the past two decades, Dassun National High School (DNHS) has been uninterruptedly delivering meaningful public service to Dassun residents. It aims to teach children not only the knowledge written in books but also the knowledge that will help them in their lives after junior and senior high school.
The school aims to give each student the opportunity to hone their knowledge to be useful and productive for their families for the longer term. It also aims to shape everyone's whole personality to educate themselves by using what they have learned to earn a living while studying.
Junior High School
In the first two years of junior high school, each student learns the four skills in Technology Livelihood Education (TLE) such as Masonry, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Beauty Care and Dressmaking. Each grading, a skill is being studied and followed by another until all four of these are completed throughout the year.
Upon entering grade 9, they can choose any of the four TLE skills including Computer System Servicing as an elective to become more proficient in the chosen field. These skills often become ways to help to earn money backing up their education and also help to family’s expenses. Beauty care students can get home service like foot spa and nail polishing. Masonry can also earn a little money by doing small jobs such as being construction helpers and SMAW students can also help with welding work.
Senior High School
Meanwhile, the Senior high school department continues to offer two strands, General Academic Subject and TVL Dressmaking. GAS aims to teach students related knowledge congruent with their desired course in the future. Meanwhile, TVL Dressmaking aims to hone the children's knowledge of sewing, although they can still get other courses that may have nothing to do with sewing.
Next year GAS will be eliminated and replaced by HUMMS which according to the majority is better. On the whole it is the desire of the entire DNHS’ staff and administration to continue to work to organize, to beautify and to improve every child enrolled here for his holistic growth and development.
