Narrative Report on Filipino Values Month
November 22, 2021
Pursuant to Proclamation No.479 issued on October 25, 1994, by former President Fidel V. Ramos, the entire Philippines is celebrating the Filipino Values Month. This annual celebration was spearheaded by the Department of Education. This aims to strengthen the Filipino culture, ideals and values of being Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan, at Makabansa. This year’s Filipino Values Month was celebrated with the theme “Pagpapaunlad ng Pagpapakatao, Pakikipagkapuwa, at Pananampalataya: Hamon sa Panahon ng Pandemya” aimed to give time to reflect and create moral awakening and national consciousness on human values that are distinctive, genuine and positively Filipino. It also sought to sustain and revitalize the practice of caring to others, treating others with respect and dignity, and assisting others to become better people especially in these pandemic times.
In support to this, Cuenca National High School held a simple but meaningful contest called Phonetography last November 22. This provided an avenue for students to showcase their skills, talents and creativity while taking time to reflect on their ability to connect and practice the spirit of caring for others in times of difficulty. Announcement regarding the activity was made through DepEd Tayo CNHS- Batangas as well as the respective group chats of EsP and CNHS faculty. The link for the submission of entries via Google drive folder was also sent to the participants along with the contest mechanics and the criteria for judging. A total of 20 participants from Grade 7 to Grade 10 joined the contest.
In general, Filipino Values Month Celebration was indeed not just celebration of talents and potential but more of becoming an instrument to relive and commemorate our Filipino roots.
