OHSP IN ACTION - FIRST QUARTER JOURNEY
The Journey of Open High School Learners: First Quarter (August - November 2024)
The students of the Open High School Program at Centro De Naic National High School embarked on a remarkable journey in August 2024. With determination and enthusiasm, they started attending their Saturday classes, ready to face the challenges of the school year. Though their schedules were different from traditional learners, their commitment to their studies remained unwavering.
Each Saturday, they gathered for a full day of learning, taking on eight subjects just like their counterparts in regular classes. The long hours were filled with meaningful class discussions, where every student had the chance to voice their thoughts and actively participate. Teachers, including Ma’am Gretchen Cachuela and Ma’am Hyjasmin Cabana, guided them through lessons, encouraging engagement and sparking curiosity.
The subjects weren’t limited to just textbooks and lectures. The learners immersed themselves in hands-on activities that brought the lessons to life. In Science, they conducted experiments, measuring reactions and exploring the wonders of nature. In Mathematics, they solved real-world problems, applying formulas and strategies they had learned. Filipino classes saw students creating poems and stories, reflecting on their culture and identity. In English, they discussed literature, analyzed characters, and even performed role-plays.
By the time November arrived, the learners had formed a close-knit community. They shared moments of laughter, debate, and encouragement, celebrating small victories like successfully completing a group project or mastering a difficult concept. Though their Saturdays were long, each session felt like a step closer to their goals. Through dedication, resilience, and the support of their teachers, they continued to thrive, building a foundation for success in the Open High School Program.
As the first quarter came to a close, the learners could look back with pride on their journey. They had not only gained knowledge, but also a deeper understanding of themselves and the power of hard work. The path was far from easy, but they were ready for the challenges ahead, motivated by the lessons they had learned and the friendships they had forged along the way.
