Weather is the condition of the atmosphere at a particular place over a short period of time. It can change from hour to hour and from one day to another.
It is influenced by several factors like temperature (degree of hotness and coldness of the atmosphere), humidity (moisture content of the atmosphere) and precipitation (amount of rain falling over a specific area).
On the other hand, climate refers to the average weather pattern of a place over a long period of time (such as months and years).
In the Philippines, a "season" is one of the two main parts of the year: the rainy season and the dry season . Each season has its own special weather and daylight hours. These weather patterns are mostly because the Earth is tilted and moves around the Sun. Depending on where you are, each season can feel different, with its own temperatures and weather.
Wet season starts in June and peaks in July to November and fall slowly towards the end of the year. It is characterized by a pronounced rainy season with thunderstorms. Air is hot and humid which brings heavy rains and typhoons in the country.
Rain is almost in daily occurrence during the wettest month and precipitation is highest especially in areas where Southwest monsoon or Habagat hit.
Flooding due to clogged canals, leptospirosis due to rat's urine, dengue cause by mosquito bites, cough and colds are some of the problems that we encounter during this season.
Dry season is characterized by hot cloudless days. This is the season which is influenced by seasonal winds (Amihan or Northeast monsoon). Dry season is subdivided into cool dry season (from December to February) and hot dry season(from March to May).
Heat stroke, dehydration, sore eyes, sunburn and other skin problems are some of the ailments common during summer days.
Warm moist winds from the southwest causing rains over the western portion of the Philippines from May to September
Cold winds from the northeast that bring rains over the eastern side of the Philippines
