On June 10, 1974, Bangbangolan Barangay High School opened its door to the community. Its catchment areas include Apaleng, Bacsil, Bangbangolan, Baraoas, Calabugao, Nagyubuyuban, Pacpaco, Pao Norte, Parparya and Puspus. The school was pioneered by Miss Simeona C. Agustin who was also in charge of Bangbangolan Elementary School.
It was in 1987 when Mrs. Herlita Panit-Mendoza took over. The faculty consisted of one Teacher-in-Charge and four teachers. In June 2000, an LSB teacher joined the teaching force. During her leadership that the school acquired 11,056 square meters lot.
A PTA building was built in July 1982. Other buildings already existed but were only repaired and improved: Barangay High School building, July 1989; Two-room Makeshift building, February 2002; One-room Makeshift building, June 2003; One-room DPWH building, August 2004. The school was
nationalized in 2005.
On February 19, 2002, eight sets of desktop computers were awarded to the school by the Department of Science and Technology office. The teachers believed that this will not only equip them the knowledge but also to impart to the students to get familiarized with the basic concepts and programming skills. On February 16, 2004, ten sets of desktop computers were delivered from the Department of Trade and Industry. Congressman Victor Ortega also donated the office one set of desktop computer on June 8, 2011. In September 2014, the school was a recipient of a DCP Package for the -classroom and DICP fund for internet connectivity making it possible for the school to subscribe to Globe broadband with 3-unit Wi-Fi.
Teachers come and go. There had been many teachers who came to the school but were also transferred to other schools as they were given permanent positions in the department.
The school was also slowly making a mark in the City Division as seen in the awards and recognitions it has received from different competitions. In the Gulayan sa Paaralan program of the Department of Agriculture, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist - ABONO Partylist in partnership with the Department of Education, the school was awarded if not Second, First Placer as the Best Gulayan sa Paaralan Program Implementer for six years now. Other awards include Best in Urban Gardening, Best Feeding Program and Best in Nursery. In 2012, the school received the Best Brigada Implementer distinction.
Mrs. Mendoza retired from the service after 27 years. After her retirement on June 2013, the school was managed by the Officer-in-Charge Mr. Joseph C. Ducusin. That same year of August, Mrs. Miriam O. Aurelio was installed as the principal of the school and served from 2013- 2018. On September 28, 2018, Mr. Rodrigo B. Panit Jr. was designated as the new school head of the school
At present, the school has a total population of 240- Junior and Senior High Schools students. There are eight (8) Junior High School teachers and eight (8) Senior High teachers, one (1) ADAS and one (1) LSB of which they are nationally funded.
On March 2014, the Water System was established and inaugurated, one natural source powered by power spray and a rain harvester. A period of development followed. Comfort rooms have increased and were constructed inside the classrooms. From one hand wash facility constructed on 2012 and another was awarded on 2014. From a bushy school plant to a landscaped school ground. School buildings were replaced with Gl sheets. CCTV's were also installed for security and the school has hired one caretaker funded by MOOE and PTA. Students performed their extra-curricular activities without jeopardizing their academic classes. A newsletter was also organized.
Bangbangolan National High School offers the Technical-Vocational and Livelihood Track (TVL) for Senior High School with programs Carpentry (NC II and Dressmaking/Tailoring (NC II). In the Junior High School, it offers this school year Food and Beverage Services (NC Il), Dressmaking (NC 11) and Masonry (NC I) as Specialized TLE Courses. To better serve the learners and the community, the school envisioned to diversify in its programs offering Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM - NC 11), and Visual
Graphics (NC 11).
