DIGITAL POSTER MAKING CONTEST
Mechanics:
a. The contest is open to all public elementary and secondary schools.
b. Each school should submit ONE entry only.
c. The poster must illustrate, interpret and emphasize the theme of the National Disaster Resilience Month 2023 “BIDAng Pilipino: Building a Stronger Filipino Well-being towards Disaster Resilience”.
d. The contestants may use Photoshop, Paint, or any related software applications or media for digital posters.
e. The poster must be in an A4 size (8.27” x 11.69”) in a PORTRAIT format.
f. Entries must be submitted on or before July 21, 2023, thru this email: sdobinancitydrrm@gmail.com. Rename the entry following this format: 2023NDRM_Name of School
g. The digital poster will be judged according to the following criteria:
Creativity and Presentation 40%
Originality 30%
Relevance to the theme 30%

h. Three (3) winners will be picked who will receive a Certificate of Recognition and Personal First Aid Kit.

“REEL-SILIENT PINOY”
Mechanics:
a. The contest is open to all teaching and non-teaching personnel.
b. Individual or group participants should submit ONE entry only.
c. The context of the video to be submitted must be aligned with the National Disaster Resilience Month 2023 “BIDAng Pilipino: Building a Stronger Filipino Well-being towards Disaster Resilience”.
d. The video must have a short caption not exceeding 40 words. English or Filipino may be used as language.
e. Previously published works are not eligible for submission.
f. Entries must use mobile phones only. Basic color correction may be applied but STRICTLY no heavy video editing works.
g. The video must be on a MP4 Format File with a 1080px by 1920px size and not exceeding one (1) minute.
h. Submission of entries is from July 10 to July 21, 2023, 5:00 pm only.
i. By submitting an entry, participants shall agree to allow the division office to reproduce, distribute, display, and create derivative works of the winning or non-winning entries for marketing, educational, and promotional purposes in any media at any time.
j. Three (3) winners will be picked who will receive Certificate of Recognition and Personal First Aid Kit.

City Schools Division of Binan City Project Development Officer II-DRRM, Ms . Ernane S. Escuvania, together with the School DRRM Coordinators suported and visited the CDRRMO Laging Handa, Laging Ligtas, Survival and Rescue Night Exhibition last July 10, 2023, in the celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month. The exhibit was located at Binan Plaza showcasing the different rescue equipment and materials of each barangays.
CITY SCHOOLS DIVISION OF BIÑAN CITY PARTICIPATED THE 2ND NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL
Last June 8, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. the City Schools Division of Binan City participated in the conducted 2nd Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill. The Division DRRM team was activated and conducted a pre-NSED meeting. Ms. Ernane S. Escuvania, Project Development Officer II-DRRM, convenes the DRRM Team composed of the Early Warning Team, led by Mr. Ruel Bongao, Evacuation Team- led by Mr. Jose Yatco, Facilities Assessment Team-led by the Division Engineer Precious Joy A. Coronado, Nurse Gerardson T. Ramos, Search, and Rescue Team-led by Mr. Allan Medenilla, Security Team-led by Mr. Romano Vinas, Transportation Team-led by Mr. Ronaldo Pasta, Communication Team-led by Ms. Elizabeth Arroyo, and discussed the scenario-based drill with the team. The phases of the NSED drill were the Alarm Phase, Evacuation Phase, Response Phase, and Evaluation Phase.
The drill started at 9:00 a.m. and ended at 9:45 a.m There are a total of 108 personnel participated in the division office. Through the cooperation and coordination of SDO personnel. Top Management and the Division DRRM team, the scenario-based drill was conducted successfully. There is no unnecessary incident that occurred during the drill.
Last June 15, 2023 at 10:19 a.m., City Schools Division of Binan City felt a 4.2 Mw due to the Earthquake in Batangas with 6.3 Mw. Through online monitoring and coordination with the schoolheads and DRRM coordinators, they were advised to conduct a pre-damage assessment to thier school buildings. Classes were shifted to alternative delivery modalities for the continuity of learning. In collaboration with LGU Binan City-CDRRMO, headed by Ma'am Maria Bonacua and City Engineering Office, they also conducted the pre-inspection visit to schools. During the conduct of the damage assessment, hairline cracks were visible on walls, stairs, and columns. Findings and observations were listed in their situation report.
Validation of school buildings was conducted by the City Engineer and Division Engineer together with the Project Development Officer II in DRRM. Hairline cracks found on the walls, stairs and columns were negligible and does not affect the integrity of the building and it is safe. Among the 38 schools, Malaban Elementary School, Platero Elementary School, Dela Paz Main Elementary School and BSSAA were advised to monitor the visible cracks on their beams, columns and floors.

The School Governance and Operations Division-Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Unit, Education Facilities Division, Socialization and Mobilization Networking Section and Youth Formation Division-conducted initial field monitoring to Districts 1-3. This activity aims to oversee the implementation of different PPAs of each unit/section.
Ms. Ernane S. Escuvania - Project Development Officer II-DRRM and Engr. Precious Joy A. Coronado- Engineer III, worked together to provide technical assistance and evaluate the accomplished comprehensive school safety initiatives and risk assessment form of schools. The schools were commendable with their presented MOVs such as their Accomplishment Reports, Action Plans, Contingency Plans on Natural Hazards, Human-Induced and COVID-19.
There are some issues and concerns raised during the conversations with schoolheads and their respective PSDSs, that address immediately.

FIRE PREVENTION MONTH CELEBRATION
March 1-31, 2023
In coordination with Binan City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), selected schools from elementary and secondary participated the initiated activities of BFP. Personnel of Biñan City Fire Station headed by FCINSP ERIC F SABIANO, City Fire Marshal, conducted Basic Fire Safety Awareness Seminar and Drill at Biñan City Science and Technology High School, Silmer Village, Biñan, Laguna.
The BFP's annual celebration conducted activities such as Photography Contest, Poster Making Contest, Drawing Contest, Open House Visit and experience to be like Berong Bumbero sa Paaralan and Kiddie Fire Marshall, Fire Safety Training and Drill. This activity aims to increase awareness and knowledge on what to do in case of fire-related emergencies.
SDO BINAN CITY RECERTIFICATION OF SAFETY SEAL

CONGRATULATIONS!
City Schools Division of Binan City for passing the SAFETY SEAL Re-certification conducted last February 15, 2023, by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Binan City. Inspection team from DILG, headed by Ms. Maria Fatima Alon, commended the SDO's Best Practices, Innovations and Continual improvements in coping up with the challenges of the new normal.
Last November 18, 2022, the City City In response to the vulnerabilities of the basic education sector, DepEd conducts contingency planning annually to effectively prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters rapidly. With COVID-19, the contingency planning is to ensure education continuity amidst the pandemic and other disasters arising from natural and human-induced hazards.
It is in this context that the conduct of planning with our Division DRRM Team is deemed necessary to prepare in case of emergencies; to provide urgent and response and measures to a disaster; to ensure learning continuity, protect the health and safety of learners, teachers, and personnel and ensure continuous operation and services of SDO Binan Offices during and after the disruption caused by any disaster and emergencies.

SDO Biñan City through the School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) – Social Mobilization and Networking Section -Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Unit applies for Safety Seal Certification Program of the Department of Interior and Local Government in the City of Binan. This program aims to strengthen the implementation and compliance with IATF public health minimum standards for the safety and welfare of every personnel. SDO Binan City receives Safety Seal Certification last June 14, 2022. The Safety Seal Certification validators from the Department of Interior Local Government (DILG) recognized the City Schools Division of Biñan City as certified compliant with the minimum public health standards set by the government and integrates the contact tracing with staysafe.ph.
The Safety Seal Certification is a voluntary certification scheme that affirms that an establishment followed the implementing guidelines of the Safety Seal Certification Program as stated in Joint Memorandum Circular No. 21-01, series 2021 to help reduce the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The DILG Head, Fatima Nona M. Alon together with PLTCOL Jerry V. Corpuz, FO3 Angelo A. Gualberto, JO2 Jun Alfred V. Dalo, and JO1 John Paul B. Merin certified that the division offices ensure compliance with the required health and safety protocol, having well-versed personnel, safety officers per floor, medical officers and staff, installed air purifiers, isolation room, waste disposal facility and hotlines posters per office, and disinfection activities.
The validators commended the division’s top management, headed by SDS Edna Faura-Agustin and ASDS Edenia O. Libranda, and the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Project Development Officer, Ernane S. Escuvania for following the guidelines and maintaining the safety of all division personnel and clients.
