COMPUTER SYSTEM SERVICING: BEGINNERS GUIDE FOR NC II ASSESSMENT
RATIONALE
We are now living in an Age of Information Technology where everybody must be functionally literate in the use of computers and other modern gadgets. Computer illiteracy has no space in all aspects of human activities because in the educational sphere and even in the workplace, even the simplest task has to be accomplished with the use of computer. Along this context the Department of Education has intensified its computerization program in partnership with the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA). This is to ensure that students of TVL - ICT specifically Computer System Servicing in the Senior High Schools would master the desired learning competencies. In fact, there is an existing learning module designed for such purpose, which is so comprehensive that ICT students have to devote six hundred forty (640) hours to complete the whole module. When TESDA undertakes an assessment as basis for the issuance of National Certificate II (NC II) it does not cover all the competencies included in the module. There are only specified competencies chosen to be tested. It is for this reason that the proponent proposed a revised and simplified module designed to include only the competencies considered by TESDA. These covers the Certificate of Completion 1 (COC 1) Installing and Configure Computer Systems, Certificate of Completion 2 (COC 2) Set-up Computer Networks, Certificate of Completion 3 (COC 3) Set-up Computer Servers and Certificate of Completion 4 (COC 4) Maintain and Repair Computer System and Networks. The new module has the following advantages to wit; first, it is shorter than the original module for it only contains the competencies needed by TESDA for the NC II assessment. And most of importantly, even for the nonICT students and anybody who would like to undergo NC II assessment, they can make use of the new module which is very good material for them to utilize.Schools and Teachers Adopted the Instructional Materials Entitled “Computer Systems Servicing: Beginners Guide for NC II Assessment”
