The School-Based Management (SBM) is a DepEd thrust that decentralizes the decision-making from the Central Office and field offices to individual schools to allow them to better respond to their unique education needs. One way to empower the schools is through the SBM grant.
Preparatory to evaluation, AVHS is excruciating well all documents necessary to achieve SBM level three. For the School Year 2021-2022, this on-going activity attempts to determine how far the school has improved and sustained their existing level of practice through presentation of acceptable means of verification (MOVs) manifested through actual or tangible evidence, digital or on-line proofs and other means which the validation team considers appropriate.
The preparation focuses on the four principles which serve as basis in validating the schools SBM Level of Practice and they are: Leadership and Governance, Curriculum and Learning, Accountability and Continuous Improvement and Management of Resources. Primarily the objectives of SBM are: Empower the school heads to lead their teachers and students through reforms which lead to higher learning outcome; Bring resources, including funds down to the control of school to spur change in line with decentralization; Strengthen partnership with communities to invest time, money and effort in making the school a better place to learn; and Integrate school management and instructional reformation for school effectiveness. The teachers and employees of AVHS were divided into four groups for each of the SBM principles so that everyone is taking part in the preparation of the documents.
Learning in the new normal is a challenge for teachers, students, and even parents. Blended learning is the use of technology to combine synchronous and asynchronous learning methodologies. Its adaptability helps people to learn at their own pace when planning for the future. It is essential in the event of a pandemic because it ensures that students can continue their education at home.
In line with this, AVHS teachers weekly monitor students through online and home visitation following health protocols on how well they are doing with their modules and LASs. It may be difficult for the teachers, but they are trying to reach out their learners for better results of output and to answer some queries and concerns. Moreover, they remain true and faithful to their profession to touch lives and shape the future of the learners.
Therefore, this is a manifestation that AVHS teachers and employees always adhere to the school’s mission “The School that inspires excellence.” It is true that by means of simple act during this pandemic creates a bigger impact to academic performance and mental health of our learners.
