"TOGETHER We Can Make it Happen, TOGETHER We Can Make a Difference.""
In June 1947, the Abulug Junior High School was established in the town proper or of Abulug, Cagayan. The first two years of the general secondary curriculum was offered. In 1949, it became a complete provincial high school assuming the name of Abulug High School. It graduates in the school year in 1950-1951. This school was financed solely through the tuition fee of students. The school site of 24 hectares behind the municipal hall was donated by the municipal council. It was headed by the following principals respectively the late Mr. Vicente Felix, Mrs. Felisa Florentino and the late Mrs. Lourdes Pacquing with five secondary school teachers under them. By virtue of Republic Act 2398 under the sponsorship of Ex-Congressman Benjamin T. Ligot, the Abulug High School was converted into the Abulug National Rural and Vocational High School. This conversion took place in June 1960. In August of the same year, Mr. Demetrio M. Cabantac arrived and took over the principalship from the late Mrs. Lourdes Pacquing who was appointed Head, Related Subjects Department. The site was planted to coconuts and sometimes in 1962, with the unselfish help and cooperation of Mayor Eliodoro Lorenzo, the school was able to acquire the present site of 189 hectares of rolling terrain.
With the passing of the years from 1960 when the school became nationally funded to the present, the members of the staff, buildings and facilities have gradually been increased and improvement and development of the site have been maximized for the attainment of the school’s objectives.
In June, 1984 Mr. Demetrio M. Cabantac retired and the school was then headed by a young and dynamic principal, Mr. Ernesto S. Esteban, the former principal of CSU-Lallo. Mr. Esteban made a lot of accomplishments. To be concrete, it was through his effort that the school’s science building was constructed. Fortunately, Mr. Esteban was promoted as the chief of the technical Vocational Education Division, DECS, Region 2. He left the school in 1998, and Mr. Dionisio A. Bautista came in. With the cooperation of the school PTCA, the “covered walk” Vo-Ag building was put up. However, he did not stay long in the school because in 1991, he was transferred to the regional office, promoted as General Education Supervisor I in the Secondary Education.
Not long after, Mr. Felimon B. Tayamin, the former principal of Lasam National Agricultural School came over. It was during this time that the long proposed library building was constructed. Mr. Felimon B. Tayamin stayed in the school for just 10 months since he was promoted as Principal II.
Now, the school has Mr. Ruben H. Cangas as its new Principal. He came from the Island of Cagayan who crossed the roughest sea just to serve the Abulugunos. Mr. Cangas is not just a man of wisdom but a man of action. With his few months of stay in this school, there are already a lot of accomplishments he made. Besides, he has many plans for the development of the school in line with the government trust. Likewise, he envisions seeing graduates of the school who will be pillars builders of the town of Abulug.
