HISTORY OF GUELEW INTEGRATED SCHOOL
Guelew Integrated School was said to be founded in 1946. It was then called Guelew Community School. At first it was situated near the river. However, as time passed by, the soil keeps on eroding claiming the land where the school once was situated. With the desire of the community to sustain the educational center that will serve the learners in the barangay the community then decided to relocate the school in a safer place. A philanthropist resident of the barangay in the person of Don Macario Posadas donated a portion of their residential land located at Purok5 to the Barrio Council of Barrio Guelew. The Guelew Community School continued its operation with classrooms made of light and semi-concrete materials. From a community school, the school became an elementary school. With the passing of time, the school have undergone its own metamorphosis. From make-shift classroom to semi-concrete to Marcos Pre-Fab and Bagong Lipunan Buildings. And now several concrete buildings are now being enjoyed by the learners as their learning hub. In 2009, the school was devastated by Typhoon Cosme, seriously damaging 11 classrooms. In need of restoration, the Central Office released the fund for the rehabilitation. And because of the growing population of the school, the succeeding school heads requested classrooms from the National Government, and fortunately those requests were granted. To date, the Guelew IS lot area is 9,105 sq. m. With the growing population and intense desire of past administrators to expand the educational services to secondary level students, Guelew Elementary School was transformed in 2010 into Guelew Integrated School by the virtue of the approval of former DepEd Regional Director Ligaya Soledad T. Miguel and through the support of our then Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Rowena C. Banzon. Guelew Integrated School has its first batch of High School graduates in 2014. It is continually serving the growing population of Barangay Guelew and its nearby barangays such as Supo and Caoayan Kiling. With the K to 12 program of the Department of Education, the Secondary School was tapped to offer Grade 11 and 12 which will commenced on School Year 2016-2017. It is expected to attract more enrollees from other barangays.
