Good morning!
The Department of Education has aggressively reformed the educational system due to the tremendous hit brought by the Covid 19 Pandemic. Still, education must continue. “Sulong Edukalidad” despite the global crisis- review and update of curriculum; improve learning environment both physical and virtual; upskill and reskill of teachers; and, continued engagement of stakeholders. All these advocacies gear towards the quality service, quality education Dampol 2nd National high School offers to the community.
Today, let me do the honors of delivering to you our State of School Address.
A. Students Development
1. Enrollment: Female – 962 and Male – 988
2. The dropout rate of the school decreased by 2.1% in just two years. The main cause of the dropout of the students remains sickness.
3.Tthe promotion rate of JHS was 97-100 %, while the SHS was 95- 98%.
4. The school’s general average this year is 86. 29. It increased by 0.85%.
5. D2NHS launched different CI projects for learners: Project MAKABASA of the Filipino Department has helped ten student costumers for this school year: Project UPLOAD of the English Department has included 21 students from grade 7 to 10 to undergo the modular intervention program which increased their reading comprehension of 90% based on MPS of their pre-test to post-test; and CI project of ESP department has helped students in improve their mental health during the pandemic.
6. The school got a score of 33 points in the Child-Friendly school survey, making us an Outstanding Child-friendly School.
B. Staff Development
It not just the students who were prioritized, at the same time the teachers were also given priority to upskill and reskill to suit with the needs of the drastic changes in the educational system.
1. Teachers and staff attended various webinars Sponsored in the division, regional and national level.
2. The school conducted different learning action cells and department action cells to ensure that information is properly disseminated, and concerns are properly addressed.
3. Focus group discussion were conducted to identify root causes and develop solutions to issues and concerns regarding curriculum implementation.
4. The school has 54 Junior High School Teachers and 12 Senior High School Teachers. Special assignments were given to the teachers. Also, some SHS teachers teach in the JHS .
5. Majority of trainings attended by teachers were LAC, RPMS PPST, GAD and Virtual In-Service Training for Teachers.
C. Curriculum Development
1. Learner modules were delivered to the students, but only half of the number of the student enrollees were delivered and reproduced. That is the main reason why we scheduled the distribution of modules by batch so that everybody will be given enough time to use the said learning materials.
2. Actual books are still available in the school, and they are properly kept and sanitized so we can use it if the need arises.
3. All levels in both JHS and SHS have a general class size lower than the recommended learner-teacher ratio.
4. The Continuous Improvement Projects: Project UPLOAD (Uplift Performance on Literacy with Optimism for Academic Development) was validated on June 21 and 25, 2021; Project SIPP (Sarili ay Ihanda sa Panahon ng Pandemya) was validated last June 23; and Project MAKABASA was validated last June 24 with the rating of 88.71.
5. Under Strategies, Interventions and Activities, the school did the following:
a. conducted pretest in all learning areas and in all grade levels.
b. revised the LRMDS Modules in all learning areas.
c. prepared supervisory plan and conducted intensive instructional supervision.
d. held virtual observation of classes.
e. provided technical assistance to all teachers to improve instruction through School Learning Action Cell (SLAC).
f. Implemented intensive remedial classes – project UPLOAD, project MAKABASA, and project SIPP.
g. blended distance learning (Online and Modular print)
6. School Organization
The school comprises of several organizations all working together for the improvement of the facilities and learning systems of institutions: Parent- Teacher Association, Faculty and Employees Association, School Grievance and Complaints Committee, Child Protection Committee and clubs headed by students like: Supreme Students Government (SSG), The Farmer and Ang Magsasaka (Campus Journalists), Math Club, Yes-O, Science Club, MAPEH Pansindak Club, English Club and TLE Club.
D. Physical Facilities
1. The school maintains the ancillary rooms for learner development such as: Library, Computer Room, Science Laboratory, Guidance Office, Clinic, TVL Laboratory.
2. The school received different SHS science equipment such as vacuum tube, strobe light, storage cabinet, microscope, model human torso, laser light, Science laboratory table and stool, tripod, dissecting tool set and others which are all in good condition.
3. In addition, the school also received and acquired the following cookery equipment: blender, casserole, knife, fire extinguishers, pressure cooker, measuring cups, working tables all in good condition.
4. For IT equipment, we have equipment from DCP Batch 93 and DCP batch 2019-3 which are all in good condition.
5. 75% of classrooms are non-standard and needs major repair.
6. The ratio of students-toilet is higher than the recommended.
7. There are currently enough seats for all our students
