Jasmine P. Belen and Rose May Samortin, both Grade 6 pupils of Luga Elementary School, (LES) proclaimed Champion and 1st Runner Up respectively as they outsmarted other Elementary contenders in Sta. Teresita District in the Culture, Arts and Heritage Quiz Bee during the Quincentennial Celebration of the Victory of Mactan held at Sta. Teresita Municipal Gym on April 27, 2021.
According to the winning coach Noralyn T. Caoitan, Belen and Samortin took extra time in reading their reviewers plus their determination to top the said quiz bee were contributory factors in winning the tilt.
“We had a review lessons every afternoon from the last week of February until April 26, a day before the competition. Their diligence to review made them winners,” Caoitan said in an interview.
“We even used the Grade 3 AP modules for a regional history and festivals because it was stated in the memorandum we received,” the coach added.
Belen posted 42 points while Samortin earned 41 defending the school Championship in the said competition.
Days before the competition, Floserpida L. Acosta, head teacher III of the said school, believed that the pressure is theirs because Belen was the defending champion in the said municipal activity. So they made an arrangement for the coach to review their contestants daily following the health protocols.

Luga Elementary School finishes 1st runner up in ‘Search for Best Brigada Eskwela Implementer 2020’

Luga Elementary School (LES) bagged 1st Runner Up in the search of the ‘Best Brigada Eskwela Implementer 2020,’ small schools category, in the Congressional District 1 held at Lal-lo National High School, Lal-lo, Cagayan on February 15, 2021.
As per records, this was the 2nd consecutive year that LES represented Sta. Teresita District in the said search and in the same level when they clutched 3rd runner up in the school year 2019-2020..
“This achievement was made possible through concerted efforts of everyone. Involving our stakeholders in all school programs and activities is the key for a harmonious collaboration. We are actively supporting the programs and advocacies of the community and they supported ours in return,“ School Head Floserpida L. Acosta said pointing their best practices which, in turn, their key of this success.
“We, teachers, are also committed and dedicated in doing our parts, we spend money from our pocket just to keep our school clean and green.- But most of all, the support extended to us by our PSDS Eden P. Malabag who did not stop motivating and encouraging us to join such activity,” Acosta admitted.

“We’ve done this before that is why we did it again. We even got higher than last school year. But most of all, we worked as one for the common purpose,” Ellen Grace P. Tacuboy, T3, exclaimed.
