RISER TECHNIQUE A TOOL TO IMPROVE THE READING PERFORMANCE OF THE GRADE 2 PUPILS IN ENGLISH OF CASAMBALANGAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
ABSTRACT
This action research was purposely conducted to improve the reading performance in English through RISER TECHNIQUE: A tool to improve the reading performance in English using the assessment tool in reading among the 30 Grade 2 pupils of Casambalangan Elementary School for the school year 2018-2019. Scores were tabulated and analysed using Paired Sample T- test and eta2 to measure the significance of the results on the study as well as the changes of the respondents’ performance after using the intervention. Results showed that the standard scores of the pupils in the post-test had significantly increased as compared with their pre-test. Moreover, there was a large effect on the sample size which concluded that findings of this study are reflective of how effective RISER TECHNIQUE is an advancing the pupils improvement in reading further implied that this intervention is an effective tool and is therefore highly recommended for use by other Grade 2 teachers.
