Abstract:
This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of Teacher-Enhanced and Assisted
Modular Strategy to enhance and reinforce the comprehension of 25 grade 6 pupils of Baliwag
Elementary School especially in noting significant details. Based on Phil-Iri Result, pupils had
inability to comprehend and understand what they read, because of these alarming situation, pave
way in constructing an innovation to address the problem. This is a teacher- made modules with
questions and activities which are also enhanced through pictures to better understand the story.
Pretest - Posttest Quasi-experimental Research Design was used employing the universal
sampling technique. Using the mean, standard deviation, paired samples t-test and Cohen’s D.
The result showed that the posttest scores mean significantly increased after using the intervention
as compared to their pretest scores. calculated mean of the pretest is 19.00 or 63.33% with an
interpretation of “Developing” while the calculated mean of the posttest is 24.88 or 82.93% with
an interpretation of “Mastery”. This further implied that there is an increase on their
performance and the participants have performed well during the post test. It further implied also
that the intervention program helped to improve the mastery level of pupils in reading. Teacher-
Enhanced and Modular Strategy is effective increasing the mastery level in reading therefore it is
highly recommended to use in teaching reading lesson in English.
