HISTORY OF PIMPILA ELEMENTARY

Pimpila Elementary School has its own unique beginning. According to some old folks of the barangay, it started as a crude house/building out of temporary materials, lumber, bamboos and nipa. This was constructed after an informal talk among old folks who stood as barangay officials.

They were so optimistic for the barangay progress and they believed that this vision could be attained by making their children attend formal schooling. Hence, after the construction of the said one classroom, and recruitment of 14 over-age children, leaders headed by the barangay teniente del barrio, now called barangay captain made the necessary action until 1 teacher was assigned to the barrio as Grade 1 teacher. Thus, formal education started in 1937 in one classroom located at the southern part of the barangay called “amianan”. Lot of which is donated by Lucas Urgel.

When the barangay leaders observed that there are more and more pupils were becoming interested to go to school, they constructed another classroom. The barangay officials worked for the formal acquisition of the lot from Mr. Lucas Urgel. A portion of it was used to exchange with the first school lot at “Amianan” owned by Manzanillo Family.

This is now the site where the school is permanently located with an area of 1.32 hectares.
