Gulayan sa Paaralan is one of the strategies of the National Greening Program of the government in response to sustainable development.
Implementing Gulayan sa Paaralan encourages the teachers, pupils, and parents to appreciate backyard gardening. It also raises awareness about health and nutrition, food self-sufficiency and sustainable food production through backyard gardening.
With the goal of achieving food resiliency in response to the challenges of the new normal due to COVID-19 pandemic, the teachers of Masi Primary school were able to put up a mini-Gulayan sa Paaralan while being quarantined at school utilizing available spaces considering the limited lot area of the school. There were several varieties of vegetable seeds planted which were provided to schools by the Department of Agricuture, Region 02.
The activity is fulfilling as it also addresses the well-being of teachers in their workplaces. So, let us continue tending our vegetable gardens!
