HISTORY OF LASAM CENTRAL SCHOOL
Several versions were listened to and learned from our ancestors who came first to Macatabang from one age old legend gave this.
On one location from handful immigrants known from the industry and love for agricultural and adventurous personality named Esteban Jove entered out cares of Cagayan Province with his determination, aims and objectives to look for a greener Pasteur and fields, he cross majestic Cagayan River to a virgin land of a barrio named Macatabang which means “fresh waters”.
His ambition emerged into reality upon his arrival in a certain locality of the above stated barrio, he envisions plains and hills as an area for development, he is an ancient developer.
Making the Kaingin System as one need and wants for progress not only for himself but for the community as a whole, he and his workers cleaned the surrounding area. He worked and worked for the benefit of his family, his surrounding and community taken together the whole barrio.
Education was far behind the horizons of the Ybanag, at that time, lived along the banks of the Zinundungan River. They were innocent of education, innocent of civilization and his rich premonition and advancement of his community neighbors; he built common then came reality.
Upon cleaning of an area, long time ago which we, the new generation calls time immemorial. He called the elders and pioneers in Macatabang for one special session.
They talked about progress, unity and politics and on the same day, they molded the image, “Education for the Betterment.”
One bright shining morning, people of different ages, men and women and also the children gathered together in the lot of Mr. Esteban Jove.
They planned to put-up a shed for young learners to no avail, contributed to the materials needed for a small compatible building.
Politics was one factor that gains the education of Macatabang children. The shed was built, resurrected and prepared for a handful of pupils send by dispelled parents who look for world into the capabilities of their children, set aside their uncivilized principles.
Thus, Mr.Esteban Jove managed keeping to his world one and did foundation for community, wherein he was a grind young pioneer.
Macatabang Elementary School was then given one knowledge of Gattaran Elementary School that enrolment was enough to justify the opening of this barrio school authorities worked hard for its recognition by the government.
Then, Felipe Lozada proclaimed his opening with the teachers of Gattaran District willing and capable to supervise Macatabang Elementary School.
Since, they are now deceased; their name shall be entered into the call graves of history.
We now give merits to Mr. Bernabe Santiago, a District Supervisor, Mr. Juan Marcelo (deceased) as principal and we give thanks for the envision of this dream to all the pioneers of this school, names are unknown by this time, we give to our heartfelt gratitude to the ancestors of this history.
