History of Baculud Elementary School
In 1950’s, Hilario Bosi, one of the residents who was considered to be one of those who own big areas of land in the barangay, dreamed of having a progressive place someday and he taught that the only way to achieve is through education. This farmer humbly offered the underground area of his house as the temporary site for the little children where they could start learning how to read, write and count. The government then sent a male teacher who at the same time accommodated by the farmer.
Through the initiative of Alberto Pagauisan, the barangay captain that time, the farmer was motivated to donate a portion of his land where the barangay could put up a building for the increasing number of children who were now interested to learn. The lot was then donated without any condition/ agreement, it was given solely for the purpose of education.
The school was established as a complete elementary school in 1957. It occupied a parcel of land with lot no. 3358 with an area of ten thousand one hundred thirty-two sq. m. (10,132 sq. m.). There were six concrete buildings to accommodate the school children.
At present, an Elementary School Principal heads the school with 9 teachers, who composed the School’s Teaching Staff. It has a population of three hundred two pupils (302). The Barangay Officials are ever supportive to the school. For them, the school is the heart of the community.
