"Producing Great Leaders of Tomorrow".
Basao Elementary School is located in an interior community. It is 2.5 kilometers away from the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Aguiguican. The 10,000 square meter lot was donated by the late Monica Ruiz and Magdalena Ruiz. The school was established in 1960 as primary school and became complete elementary school in the year 2000.
But before achieving all those blessings, allow your heart to reminisce the story and the struggle of how Basao Elementary School started. It was in 1960 where the battle of “Basaoenio” begun. A struggle that challenged their competitiveness towards this wonderful world. A journey that will leave nothing but a legacy that every individual regardless of economic status has the right and privilege to quality education. This philosophy creates awareness to the community people of Basao to establish a school that is made up of bamboo, wood and cogon through “Bayanihan”. This act created an impact to the lives of every young dreamer to believe and to hope for something that cannot be paid up by money and that is “education”. A strong and dedicated woman in the person of Mrs. Juanita Ventura, was the first person who touched and moulded the ample hopes and aspirations of those young believers of Basao, it was her great battleto form them into a well rounded individual and keep them believing to their dreams and goal in life. At early 90’s it was a challenging period to every “Basaoenio” to prove to the world that they were capable of something, despite those muddy road, low economic status and unbearable pain to walk without slippers into the road of trials, it is for them an ever ending, patience and effort just to reach the school and learn how to count “one to ten....etc.” and read “A Ba Ka Da....”. This simple effort will make them stronger and better as they face life ahead. As years passed by Basao Elementary School continued to shine and proved they have something to show to the world about their talents and capabilities, that this abilities has been sharpened by reality of life and perseverance. Through the leadership of Hon. Ramon C. Nolasco, the Municipal Mayor of Gattaran, he donated a building that is conducive for teaching and learning, a building that was named by him “RAMON C. NOLASCO TYPE BUILDING”. This building was a sign of how Basao Elementary School came out from its shell turning into a “beautiful pearl”, a precious pearl that connotes dreams that we will always cherish for the rest of our lives. As a growing school, it is natural to have a head that will lead in the activities for the school’s improvement. That’s why in the year 2000-2002 Floro Pascual was appointed as Teacher-in-Charge followed by Pedro Espada in 2003 and Abraham Jose in 2003-2008. These three brace and great men exemplified their efforts just to provide and build a holistic learners according to what a parent must expect to raise their child. As second parents, they motivated learners to become responsible citizens to their family and to their country. In July 2008, at last Basao Elementary School was given a full-fledge Head Teacher III in the person of Mrs. Marietta T. Cauilan and later promoted to Principal I. This woman is an example of honor and glory, a woman with a big heart and a pure soul. She brought Basao into a journey that challenged every learners and educators. But because of professional growth, there were some changes, so she was transferred to another school and left Basao in the year 2011. Next to her throne was Mrs. Lynnette M. Agatep, a new “Persona” that brought Basao to its fullest potential, a mother that always gave hope, a teacher that changed the future and a friend that always guided and supported every member in the institution. Her beauty was an image of passion and dedication towards this globally competitive world. In the year 2012, another lady school head was stationed in the school in the person of Mrs. Ligaya R. Salvatierra, a woman that introduced the importance of Information and Communications Technology to the teachers which made the teachers to become “computer literates”. This skill that Mrs. Salvatierra introduced made the teaching and learning process of the teachers and pupils more enjoyable and meaningful. Because of continuous reshuffling of school heads, she left Basao in the year 2016.
At present, another lady school head gave hope to Basao and will make Basao a shining and performing school in the future. A woman of humiliation and worthy of emulation for her good deeds in the person of Mrs. Caroline U. Cordero, a Principal-1.
The existence of the school had given relief to school children and parents for they had to walk less than 3 kilometers to Aguiguican Elementary School as the nearest school to their barangay. And now the school has a total enrolment of 177 pupils from Kindergarten to Grade VI for the SY 2020-2021. The Teaching Staff is composed of 1 Kindergarten Teacher, 1 Teacher 2, 5 Teacher III, 1 Master Teacher II and 1 Principal-I.
